A South Paris man was stabbed repeatedly in a barber shop by a man who was dating his estranged wife, according to the Maine State Police.

Rashad Robinson, 35, was getting a haircut Wednesday at Major Cuts at 79 Chestnut St. in Lewiston when he was stabbed in the stomach and chest, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said.

After the stabbing, Robinson staggered out of the barber shop and collapsed on the sidewalk, McCausland said. He was taken to Central Maine Medical Center, where he underwent emergency surgery.

McCausland said police continue to monitor Robinson’s condition.

Michael Barrucci, 23, of Otisfield was arrested on charges of elevated aggravated assault in connection with the stabbing, McCausland said.

McCausland said Barrucci was dating Robinson’s estranged wife, who also was in the barber shop at the time of the stabbing.

Barrucci is being held at the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn.

The Maine State Police and Lewiston Police Department still are interviewing witnesses who were in the barber shop at the time of the stabbing.
