A motorcyclist has suffered traumatic head injuries in a Thursday when his motorcycle was crushed between two pickup trucks on Route 302 in Naples.
A Nissan pickup truck operated by Malcolm Buchanan, 74, of Casco was stopped at a marked crosswalk to allow pedestrians to cross the street. The motorcyclist, Stephen Caron, 58, of Biddeford, stopped behind the truck. A GMC pickup truck behind Caron, operated by Larry Huntly, 74, of Scarborough, did not stop and crushed Caron between the two vehicles.
Caron was taken to Maine Medical Center in Lewiston and was listed in critical condition. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Speed and alcohol did not appear to be factors. The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is investing the crash.
