A 45-year-old man was arrested without incident in Portland on Wednesday for an alleged Oct. 18 hit and run crash that occurred on Pennell Street in Westbrook.

Clemente Hernandez of Westbrook allegedly “struck another person with his vehicle and then fled the scene,” according to the Westbrook Police Department.

The victim was hospitalized with “serious injuries” and has since been released, according to police.

Police said that after detectives gathered evidence and interviewed witnesses, they developed probable cause to arrest Hernandez.

Hernandez has been charged with attempted manslaughter, aggravated assault, reckless conduct, driving to endanger and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident. He is being held on $100,000 bail at the Cumberland County Jail, police said.
