A dump truck operating with its truck bed up took down several utility lines on Mount Desert Island on Thursday.
A 2003 Volvo truck operated by Thomas Smith, 61, of Sullivan was headed north on Tremont Road when it struck the lines between the villages of Seal Cove and Pretty Marsh, according to a Friday release from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.

The ripping down of lines also did damage to several homes along the way. No one was injured and the truck was undamaged, according to the statement.
The villages are about 4 miles apart. The report does not indicate how many lines or houses were damaged.
The incident was reported at about 2:15 p.m. Thursday.
