Game notes: This contest matches two of the three teams — along with New Hampshire — tied for sixth place in the nine-team America East. UMaine has held the upper hand in the series during recent years with a 13-5 record against the Bearcats since 2010, including a two-game sweep last winter. UMaine has outscored its America East opposition 153-123 during the first half of their games and have led by at least nine points in four of the five contests. The Black Bears are shooting 37.7 percent from 3-point range during conference play to improve their season-long rate to 30.8 percent. While UMaine has lost its last two games to Hartford and Stony Brook by a combined four points, Binghamton has dropped four in a row, including an 85-79 decision to UMass-Lowell on Wednesday. Sessoms, a 6-foot freshman, had 32 points in that game and ranks third among America East scorers while winning AE rookie of the week honors five times already this season. Stewart added his first career double-double with 22 points and 16 rebounds. Led by Stewart and Barnard, a graduate transfer from Loyola-Maryland, the Bearcats rank 11th in NCAA Division I with 5.45 blocked shots per game. Binghamton also has committed the fewest fouls in America East, 15.4 per outing. UMaine visits UMass Lowell on Jan. 30 before returning home to face New Hampshire at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3.
