Portland police are looking for two men they say robbed a local taxi driver at knifepoint Sunday night.

A 69-year-old taxi driver picked up two men in Monument Square for a ride to an address on Munjoy Hill, according to a Monday afternoon news release by Portland police Lt. Robert Martin.

Just before 8 p.m., one of the men told the driver to stop the cab on Adams Street, near Kellogg Street, and then demanded cash at knifepoint, Martin said.

The driver, who was not hurt, allegedly gave the men money and they fled on foot in the direction of the Munjoy South Apartments.

The men were described as white with medium-length brown hair, in the late 20s or early 30s. They were described as between 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 6 feet tall. One wore a brown coat and the other wore dark-colored clothing, according to police.

Anyone with information on the suspects or the crime is urged to call Portland police at 207-874-8575.
