John Bapst Memorial High School’s girls basketball team advanced to the Class B North quarterfinals on Tuesday, after defeating Ellsworth 34-27 in a preliminary game.

The No. 11 John Bapst girls (6-12) upset the No. 6-seeded Ellsworth (13-5).

John Bapst will next face Waterville in the quarterfinals on Friday. The teams faced each other in the 2018 Class B North quarterfinals, where John Bapst ousted Waterville 52-48. The team later fell to Winslow in the semifinals.
