No. 5 Penobscot Valley defeated No. 12 Piscataquis Community 89-64 Thursday night in a Class C North boys preliminary matchup.
Penobscot Valley improves its record to 17-2 on the season. Piscataquis Community’s season ends with a 8-11 record.
The team will play again on Tuesday, Feb. 19, as they face off against Houlton in the C North quarterfinals. Houlton earned a spot in the quarterfinals earlier Thursday evening after defeating Lee Academy.
Penobscot Valley was ousted from the 2018 tournament in the quarterfinals, falling to Mattanawcook 45-37.
