A Massachusetts woman was hospitalized at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston after she was ejected from her snowmobile and struck a tree in northern New Hampshire.
Jamie Maggiore, 36, of Lynnfield, Massachusetts, was riding a rented snowmobile across a road in Pittsburg, New Hampshire, when she hit a large snowbank, according to New Hampshire fish and game officials.
The snowmobile went over the snowbank, down a steep embankment and struck a tree. Maggiore was thrown from the snowmobile and hit a different tree.
Once she was stabilized, Maggiore was transported to a landing zone and flown to Central Maine Medical Center.
She suffered serious injuries that aren’t believed to be life-threatening.
Fish and game officials said inexperience appears to be the primary factor in the crash. Neither speed nor alcohol was factors.
Maggiore was wearing a full-face helmet and eye protection, likely limiting her injuries.
