A tractor-trailer rolled over on the Maine Turnpike early Monday morning, closing multiple northbound lanes for several hourse.

The crash happened about 4 a.m. near mile marker 16, blocking the left and center lanes of the turnpike, according to the Maine Turnpike Authority.

Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said state troopers diverted northbound traffic to the breakdown lane to get around the wreck.

Traffic was briefly stopped about 9:30 a.m. so crews could move the tractor-trailer from its side, according to the turnpike authority.

The crash was cleared just after 11 a.m.
