A Somerville woman on her way to church escaped injury when her minivan rolled over on East Pond Road in Nobleboro, near Route 1, on Sunday morning.

Sheila A. McInnis, 58, of Somerville was driving a 2001 Honda Odyssey south, toward Route 1, when she met some northbound vehicles while going around a corner, according to Sgt. Mark Bridgham of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. McInnis thought the northbound vehicles were too close to her, so she moved toward the shoulder.

Once her passenger-side tires were in the snow on the soft shoulder, McInnis lost control of the vehicle, Bridgham said. The van struck a mailbox, rolled over and came to rest on its driver’s side, facing north.

McInnis was the sole occupant of the vehicle, Bridgham said.

The Lincoln County Communications Center dispatched emergency services at 9:34 a.m. The Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Nobleboro Fire Department responded.

The fire department directed traffic around the scene before briefly closing the road to allow for the vehicle’s removal.
