A woman who was nearly killed in a skiing crash at Sunday River two decades ago has found two men who helped save her life, The Bethel Citizen reported.
Samantha Bono — then Collins — was 15 years old when she hit a tree, was knocked unconscious and landed off the trail, she told the newspaper. She broke her skull and fell into a coma, the Citizen reported.
She has no memory of the three weeks after the crash and wanted to find the people who rescued her.

After the Citizen posted a story about Bono’s search, two men came forward: Chris Perry, who was working for the Sunday River Ski Patrol at the time, and David Hathaway, a skier who said he was the first to come upon the unconscious teenager.
Perry, now reportedly a nurse at Maine Medical Center, told the newspaper the girl was transported by Life Flight helicopter from Bethel to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
He said the quick reaction by rescuers likely saved her life.
Bono now lives and works in northern Virginia, the Citizen reported.
