The Coast Guard is searching for three sailors reported missing off Mount Desert Island.
The agency’s Northeast sector tweeted Saturday that the missing sailors are Natahanial Davis, Charlotte Kirby and Wilfredo Lombardo. The trio reportedly were on a 40-foot sailboat named Dove approximately 20 miles south of MDI in the Gulf of Maine, the Coast Guard said.
The sailboat is based out of the John Williams Boat Co. site on Somes Sound in the town of Mount Desert, the Coast Guard said.
A spokeswoman with the Coast Guard based in Boston said that Saturday’s search was suspended at nightfall but resumed at first light Sunday morning.
The Coast Guard is searching by boat from its station in Southwest Harbor and by aircraft from its air station on Cape Cod. Members of the Canadian Coast Guard assisted in the search on Saturday.
Anyone with information about the sailors or their vessel can contact the Coast Guard at 617-223-8555.
