CONCORD, New Hampshire — Dartmouth College said Thursday a business school student who attended an event also attended by a hospital worker who tested positive for the new coronavirus feels flu-like symptoms and is under self-quarantine.
Dartmouth said the student attended the event Friday for Tuck School of Business and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center guests at the Engine Room in White River Junction, Vermont.
Tuck canceled the last remaining day of classes for the term “out of an abundance of caution,” Dartmouth said. The students are waiting to learn if testing is needed for COVID-19.
State health officials said Wednesday more than 100 people attended the event with a medical center employee who tested positive, but only a handful had close enough contact to warrant being quarantined. That employee had returned from a trip to Italy and is under an order of isolation.
Health officials said a second medical center employee who was in close contact with the first employee also tested positive for the virus. He’s quarantined at home.
Dartmouth said four students at its Geisel School of Medicine who are considered close contacts to the second patient are being monitored. They are self-quarantined.
