The number of coronavirus cases at a Falmouth retirement community has nearly doubled in the past three weeks.
Eleven residents at OceanView at Falmouth have tested positive for the new coronavirus, the retirement community said late Friday. That’s up from six cases the community reported on March 21.

OceanView, which was the site of some of Maine’s earliest coronavirus cases, released no other details Friday, but said the property has an adequate supply of personal protective equipment.
Retirement communities and nursing homes have been especially vulnerable to coronavirus outbreaks, with older people at higher risk for complications from the virus living in close quarters.
News of the additional cases at OceanView came the same day the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention said a new outbreak at a Belfast retirement community had grown from two cases to 22 since Tuesday.
The CDC also reported that at least four coronavirus cases had been reported at an Augusta rehabilitation center.
