What a terrific State of the State address Gov. Janet Mills gave last week. Despite the heavy hand of the pandemic weighing over all of us, Maine under her leadership has made significant progress in fighting the pandemic, strengthening the economy, supporting education from pre-K to colleges and universities, extending health care coverage to more Mainers, and priming the pump for affordable housing and child care.

Most impressive was her willingness to  recognize good ideas from her Republican colleagues and to embrace them. Progress, indeed!
