The Feb. 23 Bangor Daily News editorial entitled “Rising Seas are Causing Costly Problems” was a call to action. The last sentence reads, “Even more critical is the imperative to reduce the carbon emissions that are driving these changes we are already seeing in Maine and around the world.” I couldn’t agree more.

Currently in the U.S. House of Representatives a bill that would put a price on carbon and rebate that money to all Americans has 95 co-sponsors. It is called the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act and is currently H.R. 2307. Carbon pricing is generally viewed by economists as needed to address climate change. Please call or email Rep. Jared Golden, Sen. Susan Collins and Sen. Angus King and urge them to support this needed legislation.
