Lynyrd Skynyrd, the venerable southern rock band, will make its fifth appearance on the Bangor Waterfront this summer, with a Sunday, July 3 concert featuring the Marshall Tucker Band and the Outlaws.

Tickets for Skynyrd’s concert, which thus far will be the first of Waterfront Concerts’ 2022 season at the Maine Savings Amphitheater in Bangor, will go on sale this Friday via Ticketmaster. Lawn seats start at $42.

Lynyrd Skynyrd has played in Bangor more than most acts, with concerts in 2010, 2011, 2014 and 2019, all on the Bangor Waterfront. Just one original member of the band remains — guitarist Gary Rossington — while singer Johnny Van Zant joined the band in 1987, replacing his brother Ronnie Van Zant, who died in a plane crash in 1977 alongside two other bandmates.

Waterfront Concerts also announced last week that rock band Greta Van Fleet will perform at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor this fall, with an Oct. 8 concert also featuring the bands Houndmouth and Robert Finley.

Other concerts for the 2022 concert season at the Maine Savings Amphitheater, the first full concert season since 2019, include Phish on July 16, Keith Urban on July 23, the Foo Fighters on July 27, Jimmy Buffett on Aug. 2, Jason Aldean on Sept. 10 and REO Speedwagon and Styx on Sept. 18. More concerts will be announced in the coming weeks.
