The Maine State Police Major Crime Unit is investigating the Waldoboro death of a 13-year-old by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The teenager died at a house on Wagner Bridge Road in Waldoboro Thursday, with two friends present as witnesses, according to state police.
The Waldoboro Police Department requested the help of the state police as is commonly done in child deaths by gunshot in smaller communities, said Shannon Moss, spokesperson for the state police.
