A woman allegedly started a fire in her Clinton apartment building on Wednesday night.

Jamie Perry, 30, has been charged with arson, according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

Perry allegedly started the fire at the multi-unit apartment building on Roderick Road about 9:30 p.m.

Moss said Thursday evening that the fire was contained but caused moderate damage to the unit where Perry lived.

The tenants in the building at the time of the fire escaped without injury and returned to their apartments once the fire was out.

When police found Perry wrapped in a blanket behind a snowbank, she reportedly told officers she started the fire over a dispute with her landlord, according to the Kennebec Journal.

Perry was taken to the Kennebec County Jail, where she was later released on $500 bail, according to the Kennebec Journal.
