Pro-Palestine protesters blocked a portion of the Franklin Street Arterial in Portland on Friday afternoon. The protest, centered at the intersection of Franklin Street and Marginal Way, started at about 1:30 p.m., according to Portland police.
The group was obstructing the Exit 7 on and off ramps to Interstate 295.
As of 4 p.m., 11 people had been arrested and charged with obstructing a public area, and were transported to the Cumberland County Jail. Those arrested were:
Mark Roman, 76, of Solon; Sophia Fuller, 77, of Belfast; Abigail Fuller, 63, of Portland; Jamila Fuller, 69, of Waldo; Paige Milligan, 34, of Brunswick; Lisa Savage, 69, of Solon; Roryalice Hoecker, 29, of Portland; Haley Marchant, 33, of Old Orchard Beach; Hallie Herz, 25, of Portland; Yusef Ebrahim, 27, of Portland; and Natalie Joyce, 25, of Waterville.
Portland police were on the scene directing traffic away from the protest. The department said it left the scene at 3 p.m.
