A large barn in Owls Head was destroyed by a fire late Sunday night.

There were three boats stored in the barn at South Shore Drive that were also destroyed, according to the Courier-Gazette. No one was injured in the blaze, and a nearby home was not harmed.

The fire was raging when firefighters arrived, according to the Courier-Gazette, and it took them about six hours to extinguish it. Firefighters from eight communities responded, including Owls Head, Rockland and St. George.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the state fire marshal’s office, the Owls Head fire chief, Steven Hallett, told the newspaper.
