A state commission investigating the Oct. 25, 2023, mass shooting in Lewiston released its interim report late Friday afternoon.

The report is not the final word from the seven-member panel that Gov. Janet Mills and Attorney General Aaron Frey formed in the wake of the rampage at a bowling alley and bar that left 18 dead and 13 injured. A final report is expected this summer before July 1.

Ethan Andrews is the night editor. He was formerly the managing editor at The Free Press and worked as a reporter for The Republican Journal and Pen Bay Pilot.
