A Lewiston man allegedly brandished a metal pipe Monday evening when workers at BJ’s Wholesale in Auburn on Monday night.
Jeremy Proctor, 38, has been charged with robbery, violation of conditions of release and criminal mischief, according to Timothy Cougle, the deputy chief of the Auburn Police Department.
Proctor was allegedly leaving BJ’s Wholesale on Mount Auburn Avenue with a cart full of stolen merchandise about 7:11 p.m. when employees attempted to stop him.
Proctor then pulled a metal pipe from his shirt and fled into a waiting vehicle, Cougle said Tuesday morning.
Cougle said officers quickly identified Proctor because of his unique facial tattoos and arrested him about 9:55 p.m. at the corner of Pine Street in Lewiston.
Proctor is also suspected in a Saturday robbery at BJ’s Wholesale when he allegedly brandished a knife while attempting to steal merchandise, according to Cougle.
Proctor was being held without bail at the Androscoggin County Jail because of active bail conditions related to a felony theft in Lewiston.
