A fire consumed a van in Presque early Sunday morning.

The blaze broke out about 3 a.m. at the Chapman Road home, where the homeowners were awoken by popping sounds, according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames.

The van had a history of electrical issues, which investigators found consistent with signs at the scene. They ultimately declared the fire accidental.
