Firefighters put out a dumpster fire on Tuesday afternoon. Really.

It took crews just two minutes to reach the burning trash receptacle on Canal Street, which ignited about 2 p.m., according to the Lewiston Fire Department.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the “fully involved dumpster,” making short work of the colloquial catastrophically bad situation.

That fire blocked traffic between Main and Ash streets for about 15 minutes.
