A Milford firefighter is on administrative leave after he allegedly crashed into a building while driving drunk.

Wayne Feero, 52, failed to make a turn and crashed his car into a vacant building on Main Road in Milford late Saturday night, the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office said.

Feero, a lieutenant with the Milford Fire and Rescue Department, is on administrative leave, Chief Joshua Mailman said Thursday.

An event Feero was at Saturday was not connected to the fire department, Mailman said.

Feero had minor injuries from the crash, the sheriff’s office said. He is charged with a Class D misdemeanor operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants.

Mailman reminded people that there is help for substance use. People can call 211 or visit 211maine.org.
