Flooding during heavy rainstorms has shut down roads in Westbrook.

The National Weather Service had issued a flash flood warning for southern Cumberland and northern York counties on Sunday.

As of the latest rainfall reports, at least 1 to 2 inches of rain has already fallen throughout that region, with the potential for 1 or 2 inches more to fall this morning. The NWS local storm report noted that Falmouth had received 3.38 inches of rain as of 11:38 a.m.

According to the Westbrook Public Safety Communications Facebook page, storm drains have become flooded in the area. Westbrook Public Services is working to try to mitigate storm damage.

According to the Maine Harness Horsemen’s Association, harness racing events at the Topsham Fair were canceled today because the paddocks had flooded.
