A Dexter-area school district canceled its first day of classes Wednesday because of a threat but was scheduled to reopen on Thursday.
SAD 46 administrators said in a Tuesday night statement that the move to cancel school on Wednesday came after they received a “specified threat.”
The district also canceled all athletic practices and games scheduled for Wednesday.
As of 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, the district announced that students will be returning to classes tomorrow and Friday. Students in grades K-9, Tri-County Technical Center Students and all new students will be returning to school. Students in grades 10 through 12 will begin the school year on Friday.
The district did not provide any details about the nature of the threat.
The school will have security measures in place across district schools, according to a Facebook post made by the district on Wednesday evening.
