Duke freshman guard/forward Cooper Flagg was named both the ACC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday, Nov. 25.
Flagg led Duke to a 69-55 road victory over No. 17 Arizona, scoring a game-high 24 points with seven rebounds and three blocked shots, along with three assists and a steal. The 6-9 freshman posted 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field in the second half to hold off a Wildcats’ comeback effort.
The Newport, Maine native becomes the first ACC player to sweep the conference’s weekly awards since former Blue Devil, Vernon Carey Jr., did so on Feb. 3, 2020.
Flagg has now been named ACC Rookie of the Week in back-to-back weeks and secured his first ACC Player of the Week honors. Kon Knueppel was named Rookie of the Week on Nov. 11, giving Duke four of the seven total ACC weekly awards that have been announced this season.
No. 11 Duke returns to the court on Tuesday, Nov. 26, battling No. 1 Kansas at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. Tipoff is scheduled for 9 p.m., ET, and the game will be broadcast on ESPN.
