A man has been sentenced to 65 years in prison for stabbing his co-worker to death in Waterville.

Spridal Hubiak pleaded guilty to murder last month for the death of 52-year-old Angela Bragg of Waterville on Dec. 27, 2023.

Police say Hubiak and Bragg both worked together at Damon’s Beverage in Waterville.

According to court documents, on the night of the murder, Hubiak locked the doors about 45 minutes before closing.

According to court documents, surveillance video shows Hubiak stalking Bragg for eight minutes.

He then said, “I’m sorry,” and began to stab Bragg, according to court documents.

Police say Bragg screamed and pleaded with Hubiak to stop, saying, “We can fix this.”

Bragg appears to pass out but can still be heard breathing in the video and that Hubiak then brought her to the tasting room, according to the affidavit.

Investigators say a third coworker reported finding Bragg’s body inside around 4:30 a.m. the following morning.

Bragg’s daughters described the relationship between Bragg and Hubiak as “motherly,” and said that Hubiak often gave Bragg gifts. Bragg’s ex-husband told reporters over the summer Hubiak was “infatuated” her.

Police in Arkansas say they found Hubiak sleeping in his car, and that he led them on a chase, crashed, then got out holding an AR-style weapon. A deputy shot him multiple times.

Records also show his car was full of weapons and tarps, and the state was convinced he was planning “more violence.”
