Two days after a Thanksgiving storm that dropped heavy, wet snow across much of Maine, the state’s two major electric utilities have fixed most power outages. But headed into a third below-freezing night some residents remain in the dark.

At 3:45 p.m., Saturday, Versant Power reported 962 customers without power, or less than 1 percent of those it serves. The outages were scattered throughout Penobscot County and northern Hancock County.

Central Maine Power reported 2,169 without power, also less than 1 percent of its customers. In a statement, CMP said, “Restoration efforts will go on through the day, into tonight for areas hardest hit including parts of Franklin, Somerset, Piscataquis and Penobscot Counties.”
