The government shutdown has created hardship for many. There are a lot of solicitations to help government employees who are not receiving their paychecks, as well as folks on SNAP who will not receive benefits unless some challenges to the government withholding benefits bear fruit.

Perhaps as a starter, because Congress caused the shutdown but didn’t forgo their own pay, every member of Congress should donate their yearly salary to help the folks in a jam that they, the Congress, created. If their salaries stopped, they might get to work.
