University of Maine women’s soccer coach Scott Atherley will have one of his leading scorers back from injury for Friday’s 7 p.m. NCAA Tournament game at the University of Central Florida Soccer Complex in Orlando.
Sophomore Emma Nicholson had two goals and four assists in 12 games but missed the last five contests due to a lower body injury sustained in practice.
Head coach Atherley said she is expected to be ready for Friday night’s tournament game.
“She trained really well [on Wednesday]. She will be available,” said Atherley, who isn’t sure how much Nicholson will play.
Nicholson shares the scoring lead for the Black Bears this season with senior wingers Julie Lossius and Jordane Pinette. All three have eight points on the season. Players get two points per goal and one point per assist on the stat sheet.
Lossius and Pinette each have three goals and two assists, compared to Nicholson’s two goals and four assists.
The sophomore midfielder is from Calgary, Alberta and totaled 31 shots while starting five games for the Black Bears before her injury earlier this season.
