Brunswick firefighters responded to two separate house fires in quick succession Friday.

The first call came at noon for a structure fire on Tufton Street in the Bay Bridge Mobile Home Park. At the scene, firefighters saw a fire underneath the home and a person under the home trying to thaw a frozen water line, the Brunswick Fire Department said in a news release.

Crews quickly extinguished the fire, which required removing “a lot” of insulation. The person who had been under the home was evaluated for smoke inhalation but refused to be taken to a hospital, the department said.

While firefighters were still at the mobile home park, they got a call at 12:28 p.m. for a fire on Libby Lane.

First responders there found heavy smoke and fire on the first floor of a two-story residence and an active fire in a daylight basement, the department said.

People who were home at the time made it out of the building safely, but one firefighter from a mutual aid company was taken to a hospital for treatment of a medical issue and released, the department said.

The Libby Lane blaze was extinguished by 4:30 p.m. It was caused by a chimney fire, the department said.

Mutual aid was provided by Topsham, Bath, West Bath, Freeport, Lisbon, Harpswell, Woolwich, Yarmouth and Pownal.
