A Clinton man has been arrested for a shooting last summer that left another man dead.
James Simonson, 66, has been charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, according to Maj. Aaron Turcotte, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Simonson allegedly shot 68-year-old William Parent of Clinton on Main Street in Clinton late last June.
Parent later succumbed to his injuries.
The Maine medical examiner’s office ruled that Parent died from a gunshot wound and that his death was a homicide.
Simonson was arrested about 3:20 p.m. Thursday in Clinton and taken to the Kennebec County Jail in Augusta, where he is being held without bail.
