A Dominican man allegedly has been trafficking cocaine and fentanyl in Maine.
Jorge Luis Franco Mejia, 31, has been charged with aggravated drug trafficking, according to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency. Bail set at $100,000.
On Thursday, Maine drug agents executed a search warrant at a Winthrop motel after a month-long investigation into cocaine and fentanyl trafficking, during which undercover officers bought drugs, the agency said Friday.
The MDEA seized more than six ounces of cocaine, 20 gross grams of fentanyl and $1,660 in suspected drug proceeds.
The drugs were worth an estimated $20,000.
Franco Mejia was arrested without incident and taken to the Kennebec County Jail in Augusta.
More arrests and charges are expected as the investigation proceeds.
