A public funeral will be held in Belfast for Wayne Woodbury, assistant chief of the Searsmont Fire Department, who died of injuries sustained in the fire and explosion at the Robbins Lumber mill last month.
The memorial will be held on Wednesday, June 24 at 1 p.m., at Belfast Area High School, 25 Lions Way, Belfast.
Attendees can park on and around Belfast Area High School. Overflow parking will be at Troy Howard Middle School with shuttles available starting at 1 p.m.
The funeral will include an honor guard and pipes and drums. Fire service personnel will make a “sea of blue.”
Woodbury, 76, died on June 14 at Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was the second fatality from the fire and explosion on May 15 that killed 27-year-old Morrill firefighter Andrew Cross, and injured at least 10 other people, several of whom remain hospitalized.
