A motorcyclist died in a crash at around 8:25 a.m. Friday on Route 1 in the town of Hancock.

The crash happened near the Washington Junction Road intersection after the motorcyclist, 44-year-old Jim Hoyt of Sullivan, crossed the centerline while westbound and collided with an eastbound pickup truck.

Hoyt, who had been wearing a helmet, died at the scene of the crash.

The pickup truck driver was only minimally injured.
