Eighteen-year-old Mick Madden was a model of consistency.

Madden, who captured the state Class A individual title this season while leading his Cheverus High School Stags from Portland to their first A team title since 2005, fired an eight-under 208 to win the 107th Maine Amateur Golf Championship at the Sanford Country Club on Thursday.

Madden shot a two-under-par 70 on Thursday to follow three-under-par 69s on Tuesday and Wednesday.

He registered 15 birdies, five bogeys and a double bogey over his three rounds.

He had missed the cut in last year’s Maine Amateur.

Recent Gardiner High School graduate Jack Quinn from Litchfield finished three shots back at 211 after posting the tournament’s best round on Thursday, a 68. Quinn, who will play for the University of Rhode Island in the fall, had shot a 70 on Tuesday and a 73 on Wednesday.

The only other golfers to finish under par were defending two-time champ Eli Spaulding from Freeport and Jacob Moody from Oakland, who each shot a one-under par 215.

Both just completed their sophomore seasons in college with Spaulding playing at Loyola University in Maryland and Moody playing at Le Moyne College in New York.

Spaulding shot a 69 on Thursday following a 75 on Wednesday and opening-round 71 and Moody followed Tuesday’s 70 with a 73 and a 72, respectively.

Madden plays out of the Woodlands Club in Falmouth, Quinn’s home course is the Augusta Country Club in Manchester, Spaulding is out of the Brunswick Golf Club and Moody represents the Waterville Country Club in Oakland.

Scott Nevers (71-77-69) from the Val Halla Golf Course in Cumberland Center and Kellen Adickes (73-74-70) from the Goose River Golf Course in Rockport tied for fifth with one-over-par 217s.

Will Farschon (73-71-75-219) from the Brunswick Golf Club was seventh; Andrew Slattery (72-75-73-220) from the Portland Country Club in Falmouth and Ron Kelton (72-73-75-220) from the Purpoodock Club in Cape Elizabeth tied for eighth and there was a five-way tie for 10th at 221.

That group included Jake Willis (75-74-72) from the Kebo Valley Golf Club in Bar Harbor, Brian Bilodeau (76-73-72) from the Fairlawn Golf Course in Poland, Neil Suchecki (71-76-74) from the Nonesuch River Golf Club in Scarborough, John Hayes IV (77-71-73) from the Purpoodock Club and Garrett Olson (71-73-77) from the Brunswick Golf Club.

On Thursday, Madden posted birdies on the fourth, fifth, ninth, 12th and 13th holes and bogeyed the first, third and seventh holes.

He had registered five birdies and two bogeys on Wednesday and five birdies and a double bogey on Tuesday.

Quinn’s exceptional round on Thursday was highlighted by an eagle-three on the 609-yard par-five 12th hole, the longest hole on the course.

He played a bogey-free round and also had birdies on the fourth and 18th holes.

His Wednesday round produced four birdies, three bogeys and a double-bogey.

Tuesday’s round featured four birdies and two bogeys.

Quinn won the state Class B title in 2024 and led Gardiner to the team championship. He also won the New England Interscholastic title that year.

He was second in the state B tourney this season, finishing one shot behind S.J. Welch of Nokomis High School in Newport.
