A Southwest Harbor inn where the owner and another man were found dead more than two months ago has new owners.
The Lindenwood Inn is being purchased by two Bar Harbor residents, according to documents filed in the Hancock County Registry of Deeds. Machias Savings Bank agreed on July 17 to loan the duo, Diana Chiriac and Tsvetomir Nikolov, $1.75 million to acquire the inn property at 118 Clark Point Road, registry documents indicate.
The property had been listed for sale for $2.25 million after its prior owner, James King, and another man were found dead in the inn on May 1. Officials at the time said that the deaths of King and Randy Murray of Holden, both aged 69, were believed to have been accidental, according to Bar Harbor Story.
King, originally from Australia, purchased the inn in 1993, after having managed or owned other inns in Massachusetts and on MDI, according to a 2018 profile by MaineBiz. King listed the inn for sale that year for $1.7M, MaineBiz reported. The inn’s website indicates it was originally built in 1904 as a sea captain’s home.
The inn’s new owners have applied to the town to renew the business’ liquor license, Bar Harbor Story reported on Monday.
The chief medical examiner’s office, in response to an email inquiry from Bar Harbor Story, said Monday that the cause and manner of death for King is still pending and that Murray’s cause and manner of death is undetermined, the outlet reported.
