A Norway man allegedly shot his wife believing she was an intruder.
James Davie, 72, has been charged with domestic violence aggravated assault, according to ABC affiliate WMTW.
Davie allegedly shot his wife early Sunday morning and told police he thought someone had broken into their home, the TV station reported.
She was taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway.
The investigation into the shooting prompted police to charge Davie, with Norway Police Chief Jeffrey Campbell telling WTMW that “the discharge of the firearm constituted a criminal offense.”
He was taken to the Oxford County Jail in South Paris.
