Top of the Hill Subs, a sandwich shop, is opening on State Street Tuesday.
The shop is across the street from Judy’s and will offer hot and cold sandwiches along with ice cream and is owned by Kaitlin LaPointe, according to a manager at the store Friday who did not want to be named.
When it opens, Top of the Hill Subs will add another lunch and dinner option in Bangor, joining the multiple restaurants, including Frank’s, Judy’s and Thai Etc, on a short strip of State Street. The restaurant also brings a local option to a building that was a Subway for more than two decades.
LaPointe was not available for an interview Friday.
More than two months of work was put into the former Subway building to be able to open. Booths and a table make up the small dining area.
Hot and cold sandwiches, with mostly deli options including turkey and salami, will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. The majority of ingredients used and other options, like potato chips, are from Maine vendors, the manager said.
The menu isn’t finished yet, but sandwiches, chips and ice cream will be available when the sub shop opens Tuesday, the manager said.
Delivery will be available in Bangor and Brewer, but the main goal of the restaurant is to allow people to have a nice place to have an inexpensive meal, the manager said.
“We want to offer good food to the locals for a good price,” the manager said.
