The Aug. 5 BDN editorial on the closure of hospital birthing units ignores the disaster that I believe the Mills administration’s Hannah Pingree and Senate President Troy Jackson made of the healthcare system in Maine since Gov. Janet Mills took office. The Mills team greatly expanded services to people and underpaid hospitals and now many hospitals are struggling.
Democrats love giving benefits and then not paying the people who provide the service. Former Gov. Paul LePage corrected that when he paid Maine hospitals, but then Mills seems to have picked up the habit again. I believe this current mess is totally the fault of the Mills administration and Pingree and Jackson.
I believe the BDN editorial board twists the story to leave out the cause because I think the BDN editorial board is biased in favor of incompetent people in Augusta.
