Firefighters saved a Pittsfield barn Sunday morning after a neighbor spotted a fire at a nearby house.
The neighbor saw heavy black smoke coming from the Hussey Road house about 5:44 a.m., according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
By the time firefighters arrived, flames had spread through a significant portion of the house.
Crews, though, contained the fire to the house, keeping the flames from reaching the nearby barn, Moss said Monday evening.
The house, which was undergoing renovations, was unoccupied. It was extensively damaged in the fire.
The fire remains under investigation.
