McLaughlin’s Lobster Shack, a Lincolnville Beach mainstay for 48 years, has closed.
Rick McLaughlin cited health concerns and the long hours that operating requires as the reasons in a Facebook post Tuesday night. The restaurant closed Sunday, he wrote.
The lobster shack is the latest Lincolnville Beach restaurant to close in the last few years. The iconic Lobster Pound closed in 2023 after being badly damaged in a storm and reopened last year as a gift shop only. The Whale’s Tooth Pub closed nearly two years ago, and sold this spring but has not yet reopened.
Attempts to reach McLaughlin were not immediately successful.
The building will be auctioned off Oct. 2, McLaughlin wrote. He hopes that someone else will open a restaurant at the location.
“It has been a privilege to serve you at Lincolnville Beach in three locations for the past 48 years,” McLaughlin wrote.
