The Bangor City Council has struggled for years to address the city’s homelessness crisis, and residents consistently name the issue as a top concern.
Homelessness has become more visible in the city as affordable housing becomes more scarce and shelters are frequently at capacity. Unsheltered homelessness is on the rise in the region, according to the latest data from MaineHousing.
We wanted to know how each council candidate would approach the issue, so we asked all of them: Homelessness is a top concern for voters. What specific policies would you pursue to reduce homelessness in Bangor?
