A fire burned a Wilton brewery Monday afternoon.

The fire broke out at Ambition Brewing on Main Street, according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

Firefighters contained the blaze to one of the two buildings used by the brewery, though the second sustained smoke and water damage, Moss said Tuesday morning.

Investigators determined that the fire started under the rear portion of the building, where renovations were underway. Combustible organic material had accumulated under the floor; a portion of the rear of the building was partially exposed to the elements.

That material became dry enough to combust.

The fire was ruled accidental.
