We’re into the part of Maine’s fall foliage show when there are no bad seats.

Headed into the holiday weekend, peak color is arriving in central Maine and headed for the coastal and southern parts of the state.

Throughout most of the state, more than half of trees are at moderate to high color change, according to the state Department of Agriculture, Conservation & Forestry foliage report for October 7 to 13.

“Despite the lack of rain this summer, Maine did not disappoint. The colors are phenomenal!” Gale Ross, DACF fall foliage spokesperson, said in Wednesday’s report. “Downeast Maine’s (zone 4) cranberry bogs and blueberry barrens are putting on their own foliage show this week.”
