Bangor police arrested a Presque Isle man on Wednesday for assault and resisting arrest.
A caller reported that Benjamin Brigman, 24, was throwing rocks at a vehicle outside a Main Street restaurant at about 6:35 a.m.
A woman called the Bangor Police Department about the man and reported he hit her and ran away, but continued to throw things, police said.
Officers arrived to find a man matching the description “screaming and flailing,” police said. The man ran from them, but they caught him and identified him as Brigman, whom they described as a transient.
Brigman was charged with disorderly conduct, assault and refusing to submit to arrest.
Assault, a Class D misdemeanor, carries a punishment of up to one year of incarceration and up to a $2,000 fine. On the other two charges, which are Class E crimes, Brigman could face up to six months imprisonment and up to a $1,000 fine for each.
